The final of the 3 projects the team of interns I was apart of for the summer was working alongside the Story County Fairboard. This small fairgrounds located in Nevada, IA is home to the Story County Fair each year, a small youth fair that shows off a more local variety of animal shows compared the larger Iowa State Fair. We worked with one of the heads of the fairboard, Amanda Johns, to create improvements to the fairgrounds.

While our team worked on many approaches for the fairgrounds such as creating bathroom improvement suggestions and running surveys around the fair, my side of the project focused more on the branding for the fair itself. One of the issues during our initial discussions with Amanda was concerns that the Fair or Fairgrounds themselves didn't work as whole unified system.

Over the course of the months working with the Fair, I would work back and forth on new systems and branding ideas to help unify each element of the fair and fairgrounds. My set of proposals included a Logo for both the County Fair and the Fairgrounds themselves, Each of these logos included colored and black and white versions. In the Brand Manual that was developed for the fairboard was information about the color choices and how to properly and improperly implement them to maximize legibility.

Another small document that was developed for the fairboard was a small 2 sided pamphlet. This pamphlet was made to help address an issue of lack of information for renting facilities on the fairgrounds outside of the County Fair. The 2 primary building available for rent were displayed showing their opportunities for different events, alongside details of what was contained in the buildings and how to contact Amanda for renting them out.
