About

My name is Patrick Schafer. I was born and raised in central Iowa by two parents who were both teachers. As I grew up I was encouraged by my parents to pursue my creative interests, and those interests branched to almost every piece of creativity imaginable. When I was young I had a huge fascination with books and movies, particularly in fantasy. Throughout every school I attended I would pursue music, starting with piano to percussion and violin, and ending up now with drum sets and guitar. I explored a variety of endeavors through middle and high school, from cinematography to writing to 3D modeling. While being supported by family and friends, I graduated from my hometown high school and immediately pushed to attend Iowa State University in the immediate fall semester.

When I first came to ISU, I pushed toward a career in mechanical engineering in hopes of exploring my opportunities with 3D Modeling. However, following my first year, I found myself reevaluating where this path would take me and pushed into a new branch. I followed the next year into the College of Design, hoping to find a direction that I could push myself in. Throughout the first year, I often worried about not fitting in with the rest of the students, as I was never great at drawing. But in the following years with the help of some amazing professors, I expanded my skills with creating digital art alongside finding passion with Brand Systems and reigniting my interest and skill with 3D modeling. Over these last few semesters at the college, I’ve taken great pride in the work that I have developed, spending countless late nights working deep into the dark. 

 

Once I graduate, I will once again find myself in a state of uneasiness due to where my life will lead next. However, no matter where I find myself, I know I will explore this new chapter in life without hesitation as I find my next calling.
